Government of Jersey Partners with DFDS for Long-Term Ferry Service Contract

The Government of Jersey has entered into a long-term, 20-year contract with DFDS to oversee the island’s ferry services to the UK and France, which will commence on March 28, 2025. This agreement will facilitate both passenger and freight transport between Jersey and key locations, including Poole and Portsmouth in the UK, as well as Saint-Malo in France.

DFDS has committed to improving the ferry services significantly. Planned enhancements include:

  • More frequent sailings during peak travel times to the UK and France.
  • The introduction of faster ferries on UK routes.
  • Investment in three new ferries to be operational by 2032.
  • Deployment of two dedicated high-speed ferries for the summer season.

Deputy Kirsten Morel, the Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, expressed enthusiasm about this partnership, emphasizing that DFDS’s involvement will ensure enhanced ferry services for Jersey’s residents for the next two decades.
