Adora Magic City Celebrates One Year of Sailing with 600,000 Passengers!

Adora Magic City, the first large cruise ship built in China, has successfully completed its inaugural year, welcoming approximately 600,000 passengers during 84 voyages, according to Shanghai Customs. The ship launched its maiden voyage on January 1, 2024, and has become a significant player in China’s travel sector, capturing around 40% of the international cruise market share within its first year.

On December 29, over 3,000 passengers boarded the Adora Magic City at Shanghai Wusongkou Terminal for a six-day New Year cruise. The vessel, measuring 324 meters (1,062 feet) in length, features 2,125 staterooms and can accommodate up to 5,246 guests. Its construction involved contributions from more than 1,000 manufacturers, both domestic and international.

Looking to the future, China plans to introduce its second domestically constructed large cruise ship by the end of 2026, aiming for international cruise operations to begin out of Port Guangzhou in 2027. This development underscores China’s commitment to expanding its presence in the global cruise industry.
