Dominican Republic Readies for Inaugural Arrival of Ambassador’s Ship Ambience
The Port of Sans Souci in the Dominican Republic is preparing to host the MS Ambience, operated by Ambassador Cruise Line, for its inaugural visit on January 25, 2025. This ship can accommodate 1,400 passengers and will dock from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Jean Luis Rodriguez, executive director of the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM), spoke about the growing success of the country’s ports, with notable mentions of Puerto Plata, La Romana, and Cabo Rojo. The Cabo Rojo port is notably equipped to handle OASIS-class vessels, marking it as a significant tourist hub in the south of the country. Rodriguez also emphasized the National Plan for Rehabilitation, Refurbishment, and Construction of Tourist and Fishing Docks, aimed at improving tourism infrastructure and positioning the Dominican Republic as a prime cruise tourism destination.
The January 2025 cruise schedule for local ports includes popular vessels such as MSC Seaside, Carnival Mardi Gras, Celebrity Apex, Norwegian Prima, and Independence of the Seas. This surge in cruise activity is expected to attract numerous foreign visitors, which will positively impact local commerce and tourism.
It is important to note that while the schedule is set, actual itineraries may be adjusted based on weather conditions or routing changes.
