Cunard Welcomes Public Collaboration for the “Sea of Glamour” Exhibition
Cunard Line is launching an initiative called "Sea of Glamour," inviting the public to co-create a new exhibition celebrating its 185 years of ocean travel. This project seeks to tackle the generational gap in preserving memories during the digital age, as recent studies show that while billions of images are captured yearly, very few are stored in physical formats.
The research revealed that only 3% of individuals keep their cherished memories in printed albums, leading to concerns that future generations may lack access to significant memories. With many adults facing issues like running out of digital storage or losing images, Cunard aims to encourage guests, employees, and celebrities to submit photographs taken aboard its ships.
The "Sea of Glamour" exhibition will debut in May at Liverpool’s Liver Building and feature a blend of historic Cunard images alongside public submissions. Notable figures from Hollywood, music, politics, and royalty will be highlighted, complemented by a final contemporary photograph taken by Mary McCartney on the exhibition’s opening day, reflecting Cunard’s rich history.
Cunard President Katie McAlister emphasized that this initiative honors the unforgettable moments experienced by guests and crew across two centuries. The exhibition will also travel aboard Cunard ships as part of this significant anniversary celebration.
