Virgin Voyages’ Resilient Lady Makes Inaugural Visit to Cartagena, Colombia
Virgin Voyages’ latest vessel, Resilient Lady, has marked its inaugural arrival in Colombia by docking at Cartagena Port on the Caribbean coast. This visit represents Virgin Voyages’ debut in the Colombian cruise market.
The ship’s journey began in San Juan, Puerto Rico, embarking on an 11-night roundtrip voyage with planned stops in Aruba, Curacao, Martinique, and St. Maarten.
Carmen Caballero, president of ProColombia—Colombia’s tourism promotion agency—stated that this moment is the result of years of partnership efforts between Virgin Voyages and local industry stakeholders. She emphasized ProColombia’s commitment to enhancing maritime connectivity to bolster Colombia’s image as a leading cruise tourism destination.
During its time in Cartagena, the Resilient Lady welcomed approximately 2,469 passengers who explored the city’s historic sites, engaged in cultural activities, and experienced local culinary delights. Lee Kayley, Virgin’s shore excursions manager, praised Cartagena for its rich history, vibrant culture, and exciting atmosphere, expressing enthusiasm for strengthening ties with the city.
On the same day of Resilient Lady’s arrival, Cartagena Port also hosted Cunard’s Queen Anne and Norwegian Cruise Line’s ships, Norwegian Pearl and Norwegian Joy, resulting in nearly 23,000 cruise visitors at the port.
Liliana Rodriguez, executive president of Corpoturismo (Cartagena’s tourism board), remarked that the simultaneous arrival of four major cruise companies underlines the port’s capabilities and the collaborative efforts of the local tourism sector.
Looking ahead, Virgin Voyages intends to feature Cartagena in its future itineraries, with plans for additional stops in 2026 and ambitions to expand its offerings in the Colombian region.
