HAL-Holland America Unveils Exciting Partnership with The HISTORY Channel
Holland America Line has formed a new partnership with The HISTORY Channel, aiming to enrich its cruise experiences with destination-focused historical programming. This collaboration will result in specially curated voyages and shore excursions that highlight the historical significance of various global destinations, aligning with Holland America’s commitment to cultural immersion.
The partnership will feature selected voyages that dive into destinations of historical importance, created in conjunction with The HISTORY Channel’s research and production teams. Some of the initial itineraries include:
- 14-day Arctic Journey & Northern Lights: Exploring routes associated with polar exploration heritage.
- 7-day Mediterranean Marvels of Pompeii: Highlighting archaeological sites from the Roman Empire.
- 7-day Norwegian Fjords with Hardangerfjord: Focusing on Viking-era landmarks.
Future itineraries are planned and will spotlight regions like the eastern Mediterranean, known for its ancient empires, northern Europe with its Viking heritage, and the history of Arctic exploration. Identifiers for these voyages will be clearly marked on Holland America Line’s booking platform.
In addition to these itineraries, the partnership enhances the already expansive range of historically themed shore excursions offered by Holland America, which exceeds 3,000 tours worldwide. New excursions will prioritize immersive experiences that engage passengers with local heritage. Examples include:
- Gold Panning & Underground Mine Exploration in Yukon, Canada.
- Visits to the Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, and Pyramid of Sakkara in Cairo, Egypt.
- Exploring the maritime and industrial evolution in Stavanger, Norway.
Bookings for the inaugural 2024 itineraries and excursions can be made through Holland America Line’s Start Your Journey promotional campaign. More itineraries for the years 2025–2027 will follow, along with additional collaborative content such as onboard lectures and archival media set to enhance passenger experiences.
This initiative reflects Holland America Line’s awareness of its guests’ increasing interest in learning about the destinations they visit, particularly in relation to UNESCO World Heritage sites and other historically significant landmarks. The new partnership serves to augment, rather than replace, existing excursion operations within the cruise line’s cultural programming framework.
