Luftner-Amadeus River Cruises Welcomes New Ship Amadeus Aurea in 2026
Luftner-Amadeus River Cruises is set to launch its latest vessel, the Amadeus Aurea, in May 2026. This new ship will cater to 158 passengers and will be well-equipped with a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system aimed at minimizing CO emissions. Its engines are fitted with advanced filters that significantly reduce air pollution, and it incorporates a heat-recovery system that utilizes thermal energy produced during operation.
The Amadeus Aurea features 12 suites and 67 outside cabins, each designed with panoramic windows for stellar views. Dining venues will include the Amadeus Lounge, Cafe Vienna, and the Panorama Restaurant. There’s also a Lido Bar situated on the sundeck next to a heated outdoor pool for guests looking to unwind.
Homeported in Passau, Germany, the Amadeus Aurea will offer itineraries lasting between 8 to 15 days. Notable cruises include the Classical Rhine, which journeys from Basel, Switzerland, to Amsterdam, Netherlands, with notable stops at Koblenz and opportunities for vineyard tours. The Blue Danube itinerary will take travelers from Budapest, Hungary, to Nuremberg, Germany, featuring experiences such as food tours, classical concerts, and wine tastings.
Additionally, Amadeus is expanding its fleet in April 2025 with the introduction of another luxury vessel, the Amara.
