Carnival Vista Makes Emergency Return to St. Thomas for Crew Member Medevac

On February 13th, the Carnival Vista, a cruise ship, made an unexpected return to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, shortly after departing from Charlotte Amalie Port. This change in course was necessitated by an injury sustained by a crew member who fell, leading to concerns about a possible broken leg.

After having docked at the port since 7:00 AM, the ship redirected back to the West Indian Company (WICO) dock to allow for the crew member’s medical evacuation. Mark Sabino, the director of marine and cruise services at WICO, provided information about the incident.

Following the crew member’s transfer to shore for treatment, the Carnival Vista continued its journey, departing again at 8:00 PM as initially scheduled. The ship’s itinerary included two days at sea before arriving at Port Canaveral in Orlando, Florida, on the following Sunday morning.
