MSC World America Completes Final Sea Trials: Ready for Delivery!
The MSC World America, the latest ship to join the MSC Cruises fleet, has successfully finished its final deep-water sea trials in the Atlantic Ocean. These extensive evaluations focused on various aspects including engine performance, maneuverability, fuel consumption, safety systems, speed, and stopping distances. With these trials now complete, the vessel will undergo its final outfitting at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France, before its official delivery on March 27, 2025.
As MSC’s 23rd vessel, MSC World America represents an advancement of the World Class platform, uniquely designed for the U.S. market. It blends European style with American comfort, showcasing innovative venues and concepts. Notably, this ship will feature seven distinct onboard districts, each providing diverse dining, entertainment, and leisure options tailored to a variety of traveler preferences.
The ship’s official naming ceremony is set for April 9, 2025, at the MSC Miami Cruise Terminal, the largest cruise terminal globally. Following the ceremony, MSC World America will embark on its maiden voyage, including a stop at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in The Bahamas, before initiating regular Caribbean itineraries.
With 22 decks, a gross tonnage of 216,638, and a length of 1,093 feet (333 m), the ship can accommodate 6,762 passengers and 2,138 crew members across 2,614 cabins. The ship hosts 413,334 square feet (38,400 m²) of public space, featuring 18 bars and lounges, 19 dining venues, and various entertainment options. Culinary highlights include specialty dining options such as the Greek restaurant Paxos and the first Eataly restaurant at sea, emphasizing a range of tastes.
Additional attractions include the All-Stars Sports Bar, designed to mimic a game-day experience complete with American-style bar games, and The Loft, a versatile venue for comedy, karaoke, and other entertainment.
Starting from its inaugural sailing on April 12, 2025, MSC World America will operate alternating 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Miami. Emphasizing environmental sustainability, this new ship is powered by LNG, promoting a transition to bio and synthetic renewable fuels. Additionally, it includes shore power connectivity to minimize emissions while docked, an advanced wastewater treatment system, and effective recycling management systems.
MSC Cruises has plans for two more World Class ships: MSC World Asia, scheduled for delivery in 2026, and another unnamed vessel expected in 2027.
