Mitsui Ocean Cruises Sets Sail: Expanding Sales to North America

Japan-based Mitsui Ocean Cruises has announced the launch of sales in North America for the first time. This expansion is in collaboration with Architects of Travel, a member agency of Virtuoso, which aims to boost awareness among travel advisors in both the U.S. and Canada.

The cruise line operates the Mitsui Ocean Fuji, a 460-passenger ship that began its service under the new brand in December 2024. Previously known as the Mitsui OSK Passenger Line, the company rebranded itself in 2023.

This move to tap into the North American market coincides with Japan’s growing allure as a travel destination. In the last year, Japan welcomed approximately 37 million international visitors, surpassing pre-COVID figures from 2019, which were around 32 million. Notably, 2.7 million of these travelers originated from the United States, marking a significant 30% year-over-year increase from 2023.
