Embark on Adventure: Silversea’s Silver Whisper Sets Sail on a 70-Day Grand Voyage Through Asia
On February 15th, the Silver Whisper commenced its 70-day Grand Voyage from Singapore, journeying through Asia and touching down in 37 destinations across eight countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines. This unique exploration aims to highlight the region’s rich cultural and culinary heritage, featuring exclusive events and onboard enrichment activities.
A standout aspect of this voyage is the introduction of the Sea and Land Taste (S.A.L.T.) program, which offers guests transformative culinary experiences ashore. Noteworthy events include a gourmet exploration of Thai cuisine led by a Michelin-starred chef in Bangkok, insight into local food traditions in Aomori, Japan, and a traditional kaiseki dining experience in Hakodate, Japan. Other remarkable experiences feature a scenic junk boat cruise in Ha Long Bay, a high-speed train ride on Shanghai’s Maglev, and an evening teppanyaki dinner with a view of Tokyo at night.
The itinerary also includes a full circumnavigation of Japan, with significant stops at cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima, Kanazawa, and Kobe. Additionally, three exclusive events have been organized for Grand Voyage guests:
-
Bon Voyage Reception in Singapore (February 14): Before setting sail, travelers gathered at the Andaz Glasshouse in Singapore for a private reception to meet fellow guests and celebrate the journey ahead.
-
History & Heritage of Bangkok (February 24-25): During an overnight stay in Bangkok, guests enjoyed accommodations at the Mandarin Oriental and took a cruise down the Chao Phraya River on the Royal Naval Boat Angsana. The evening featured a multi-course Thai feast at Sala Rim Naam. The following day involved a visit to the Royal Barge Museum, with guests selecting either a tour of the Sanctuary of Truth or an exploration of Bangkok’s Talad Noi Creative Quarter before rejoining the ship.
-
Secrets of Japan’s Cultural Center in Kyoto (March 25): Guests traveled from Osaka to Kyoto via Shinkansen bullet train, visiting Sanjusangendo Temple and dining with a Geisha. The experience concluded with a cultural visit to the historic Kosho-Ji temple before returning to the ship.
This Grand Voyage promises not only breathtaking sights but also a deep dive into the culinary and cultural treasures of Asia.
