Celebrating 15 Years of AIDAblu: A Milestone for AIDA Cruises

AIDAblu celebrated its 15th anniversary with AIDA Cruises on March 1, 2025. Launched on February 4, 2010, the AIDAblu is the fourth ship of the Sphinx Class series, constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany. It was designed specifically for the German market, featuring modern amenities and innovative designs.

AIDAblu was notable for introducing the first brewery at sea and hosting the largest spa and wellness center on any cruise ship at the time. The ship boasts numerous cabins with private balconies, along with five suites designed in a Japanese style.

Following its delivery, AIDAblu was welcomed with a christening ceremony in Hamburg on February 9, 2010, with designer Jette Joop as its godmother. The ship embarked on its maiden season in the Mediterranean from Palma de Mallorca, catering to 2,174 guests.

Currently, AIDAblu is navigating the Canary Islands and Madeira, with plans to return for the summer season in 2025. It offers various seven- to 14-night cruises from Corfu in Greece and Trieste in Italy, though recent modifications to the itinerary have excluded the island of Santorini.

As the ship transitions in November, it will head to the Caribbean for winter cruises starting from Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. After another summer in the Eastern Mediterranean in 2026, AIDAblu will again offer cruises in the Canary Islands and Madeira for the 2026-27 winter season.

In addition to AIDAblu, the AIDA fleet expanded with three more Sphinx Class ships, including AIDAsol in 2011, AIDAmar in 2012, and AIDAstella in 2013.
