Royal Caribbean Cancels Cruise: Changes Ahead for Quantum of the Seas Passengers

Royal Caribbean International has announced the cancellation of the upcoming cruise onboard the Quantum of the Seas in response to Tropical Cyclone Alfred, which is affecting the Brisbane area. The cruise was set to depart from Brisbane on Friday, but the storm’s approach has led to the closure of the Port of Brisbane.

The company noted that this decision was made after careful monitoring of the storm’s progress. As a result, the previous sailing of the Quantum of the Seas has been delayed in returning to port, prompting the cancellation of the planned short voyage to the South Pacific, which was to be a three-night cruise without any ports of call.

Royal Caribbean expressed its regret over the disruption to guests’ travel plans and assured them that full refunds would be provided for the cruise fare and any pre-purchased services or packages. Additionally, guests will receive a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) for future bookings, with the amount varying based on the category booked, ranging from $100 to $400 per stateroom.

Following its current cruise that began on February 28, the Quantum of the Seas is now expected to return to Brisbane on March 10, 2025, when it will resume its regular cruise itinerary. Initially scheduled for a seven-night South Pacific cruise with stops in Noumea and Mystery Island, the revised plan will include an additional visit to Noumea and two extra sea days.

Starting March 10, 2025, the ship is slated to launch a four-night cruise to Airlie Beach, continuing its series of two- to fourteen-night cruises from Brisbane to various destinations in Australia and the South Pacific.
