Norwegian Cruise Line Transfers Two Sun-Class Ships to Cordelia Cruises
NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line has confirmed a deal to transfer two of its SUN-class ships, Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun, to Cordelia Cruises in India. This move is expected to significantly boost Cordelia’s operational capabilities in the region.
According to the agreement, Norwegian Sky will be handed over in 2026, followed by Norwegian Sun in 2027. Each ship can host approximately 2,000 passengers and 900 crew members.
Jurgen Bailom, the President and CEO of Waterways Leisure Pvt Ltd, which owns Cordelia Cruises, remarked that integrating these vessels extends the success initiated by the Cordelia Empress and heralds a transformative chapter in cruise experiences for Indian travelers. This addition signifies a shift towards larger, more ambitious cruise holidays offering richer experiences.
Currently, Cordelia has one operational ship—Cordelia Empress, which was previously known as Empress of the Seas and was acquired from Royal Caribbean. The integration of the two NCL ships will double Cordelia’s capacity and open up opportunities for more extensive regional cruising options, including longer itineraries and a wider range of destinations across Asia and the Middle East.
