Exciting News: Cruise Line Sets Sail from Providence as New Home Port!
Mayor Brett Smiley announced a significant development for Providence, as American Cruise Lines plans to make the city a homeport for the first time in four years. Starting in May, cruise ships will utilize the Seastreak Ferry Terminal on India Street, supported initially by a temporary floating dock while permanent solutions are addressed.
The cruise line’s commitment includes investing in infrastructure to establish Providence as a long-term homeport for their New England Island cruises. The upcoming eight-day cruises will feature visits to popular destinations such as New Bedford, Nantucket, and Block Island.
