Coast Guard Airlift Rescues Man from Cruise Ship Amid Medical Emergency
A 54-year-old man was successfully airlifted from the Norwegian Bliss cruise ship near Cape Flattery due to stroke-like symptoms. On May 3, 2025, the U.S. Coast Guard Pacific Northwest shared the incident on X, detailing how the man was medevaced by a crew from Air Station Port Angeles.
Video footage showed a Coast Guard member being lowered to the ship’s bow with a basket to safely retrieve the man, who was then flown to Olympic Medical Center for immediate medical attention. The operation highlighted the prompt response of the Coast Guard in emergency situations at sea.
