June Update: 75 New Cruise Ship Builds in the Orderbook
The global ocean cruise ship orderbook, as of June 2025, is valued at approximately $65.9 billion, featuring 75 ships on order. Recently, two newbuilds have been commissioned by MSC Cruises from Chantiers de l’Atlantique for delivery in 2029 and 2030. Additionally, Four Seasons has secured funding to construct a second ultra-luxury vessel, set to debut in 2027, with Fincantieri being the chosen builder.
In 2025, three ships are scheduled for delivery in the third quarter, followed by five more in the fourth quarter. These deliveries have an average size of 108,891 tons and can accommodate about 2,507 passengers, with each ship costing around $878 million. The orderbook indicates an exciting future ahead, with 17 new ships expected to launch by 2027, and nine slated for delivery in 2028.
Among the major cruise corporations, MSC leads with nine newbuilds on order through 2030, while Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has 12. Carnival Corporation also has eight ships planned, including five for Carnival Cruise Line and others for its subsidiary brands AIDA and Princess Cruises.
