Carnival Dream to Call New Orleans Home Port in 2027: What Guests Can Expect

Carnival Cruise Line (CCL) is set to reposition its ship, Carnival Dream, to homeport in New Orleans in May 2027, making it the only cruise line to offer two ships—Carnival Dream and Carnival Liberty—for year-round sailing from the city. Carnival Dream has a capacity of 3,646 guests, significantly more than the ship it replaces, aimed at enhancing local tourism and economic activity, according to Carnival President Christine Duffy.

Before its debut at Port NOLA, Carnival Dream will complete two voyages from Galveston in early May 2027: a Western Caribbean trip and a Bahamas cruise. On May 16, 2027, the ship will begin offering 4- and 5-day cruises to various Mexican ports.

Carnival Liberty will remain operational from New Orleans through April 2028, continuing to provide 7-day Western Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries. This includes popular destinations such as Celebration Key, Key West, Cozumel, and Belize, along with special holiday cruises.

Recently, Carnival Liberty underwent upgrades during a European dry dock, enhancing its entertainment facilities like the WaterWorks aqua park and various recreational areas.

This redeployment is part of a broader strategy for CCL, with further vessel movements and itineraries anticipated to be announced through spring 2028.
