He commented that many passengers now seek cozy and culturally immersive experiences that allow them to bypass throngs of tourists. Avalon’s itineraries during harvest, off-season, and the pre-Christmas markets cater to this growing preference.
The collection features three primary phases: the harvest season, the off-season, and pre-Christmas. During the harvest period from mid-October to mid-November, the offerings include wine-centric trips such as “Romantic Rhine for Wine Lovers” and “The Rhine & Moselle for Wine Lovers.” These cruises incorporate vineyard visits and tastings amid the picturesque autumn scenery of Europe.
In November, Avalon provides off-season cruises at discounted rates, with prices up to 35% lower than in peak summer times. The itineraries available during this phase include “Romantic Rhine” and “Bonjour Bordeaux.” Travelers can enjoy the perks of reduced crowds while experiencing milder weather.
Furthermore, Avalon’s Christmas-themed cruises emphasize European festivities and market traditions. Sailings like “Christmastime on the Romantic Rhine” combine scenic routes with seasonal treats, including mulled wine and visits to charming, decorated towns.
Despite many departures being close to full, Avalon Waterways indicates that there is still availability for certain sailings, particularly in the off-season.
