Coral Expeditions Expands Horizons: Announcing International Cruises for 2026–2027

Coral Expeditions, an Australian cruise line, is set to expand its operations with a new range of international expedition voyages for the 2026-2027 season. The company will deploy its fleet of Australian-flagged and crewed vessels into more remote areas than ever before, focusing on regions such as New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Kimberley and Northern Australia, Tasmania, and the South Pacific.

The fleet consists of three ships: Coral Discoverer, Coral Expeditions 1, and Coral Expeditions 2 (the latter two being sister ships and previously known as Coral Princess II). These voyages aim to immerse passengers in the diverse cultures, stunning landscapes, and unique communities of Papua New Guinea and the broader South Pacific.

A key highlight of this program is the enhanced access to Papua New Guinea, featuring four new itineraries:

1. Beyond Frontiers of Papua New Guinea (from Rabaul to Port Moresby)
2. Passage Through the Melanesian Arc (from Port Moresby to Port Vila)
3. Papua New Guinea Discoverer (from Madang to Cairns)
4. Frontier Lands of Papua New Guinea (from Cairns to Rabaul)

These itineraries will run during October and November of 2026 and into autumn 2027. Following the explorations in Papua New Guinea, the fleet will return to New Zealand for seasonal sailings in December and January. Routes will include areas like the east coast of the South Island, Fiordland National Park, and Stewart Island.

The line’s international efforts will also encompass voyages throughout the Indonesian archipelago, featuring 18-night expeditions to Raja Ampat and the Spice Islands, with departures from Darwin and Sorong. Additionally, 14-night journeys named Island Empires & Ancient Mariners will take guests from Darwin to Makassar.
