Windstar Expands South Pacific Adventures with Dual Yacht Deployment in Tahiti

Windstar Cruises is set to enhance its presence in French Polynesia, starting in March 2027, with the addition of the refurbished sailing yacht Wind Star to complement the all-suite Star Breeze. This marks the cruise line’s largest investment in South Pacific operations to date.

The Wind Star, a charming 4-masted yacht accommodating 148 guests, will operate the week-long "Dreams of Tahiti" itinerary, featuring weekly Monday departures from Papeete. This journey includes a unique stop at Raiatea, a culturally significant island for the Māori, which is rarely included in competing itineraries.

Meanwhile, the Star Breeze will cater to travelers seeking longer voyages to more secluded destinations, including the Tuamotus, Marquesas, Fiji, and the Cook Islands. These adventures can be booked as "Star Collector Voyages," lasting up to 21 days and providing an enriched experience of the South Pacific.

Windstar’s introduction of additional itineraries aims to offer guests more departure options than ever before. The cruise line boasts the highest number of 7-day departures in Tahiti, along with 10-day trips to the Tuamotus and 14-day journeys to the Marquesas.

For the 2027 season, Windstar will implement an "Early Goodbye" disembarkation option, allowing vessels to dock in Papeete by 8:00 p.m. the night before departure. This schedule facilitates convenient evening flights to Los Angeles, helping guests maximize their time in paradise.

Furthermore, Windstar is enhancing the guest experience by simplifying cruise + hotel packages, which enable travelers to easily reserve stays in overwater bungalows. The cruise line has also introduced AquaBanas—private floating lounges with amenities for a luxurious day at sea.

An exclusive event called "Polynesian Feast + Fire" will be available, featuring Tahitian fire dancing, live music, and island cuisine. An onboard cultural ambassador will host activities such as ukulele lessons, flower crown and lei-making, and sharing insights into Tahitian traditions. Cooking demonstrations will showcase local recipes, and guests can discover the sacred history of Polynesian tattooing.

Excursions will be guided by locals, providing insights into the islands’ hidden gems. Activities include snorkeling, learning about Tahitian vanilla cultivation, and finding pearls in crystal-clear lagoons. With the yachts’ marina platforms, guests can dive directly into the water to enjoy a range of complimentary water sports, like kayaking and paddleboarding, in picturesque locales such as Bora Bora and Moorea.
