HAL’s MS Zuiderdam Comes to the Aid of Sailing Yacht Atlaya

During a weekend voyage from Boston to Quebec City, the HAL ship ms Zuiderdam responded to a distress call from the U.S. Coast Guard regarding the sailing yacht Atlaya, which was taking on water approximately 10 miles off the coast.

The Zuiderdam quickly altered its course and reached the compromised vessel within about 35 minutes. The two individuals aboard Atlaya were safely rescued and later transferred to a Coast Guard cutter, with no injuries reported. After fulfilling its maritime duty, the Zuiderdam continued its journey and arrived on schedule at Portland, Maine, without any disruptions to its itinerary.
