Significant Itinerary Adjustments Announced for MSC Magnifica’s World Cruise 2026

MSC Cruises has announced major itinerary changes for the MSC Magnifica’s upcoming 118-night world cruise, set to embark from Italy, Spain, and France on January 5th, 2026. The most significant alteration involves rerouting the cruise away from the Red Sea, owing to ongoing safety concerns in the region. This change is aimed at ensuring passenger safety and operational stability and will extend the voyage by 12 days, adjusting the overall duration to 131 nights.

The updated itinerary will maintain its original course until April 8th, 2026, then redirect south to navigate around Africa via the Cape of Good Hope. New port calls will include stops at the Seychelles, Mauritius, La Réunion, South Africa, Namibia, and Cape Verde. However, this rerouting means that previously planned stops in Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Jordan, Egypt, and Greece will no longer be on the schedule.

Additional adjustments replace San Francisco with Los Angeles, and Honolulu will be swapped for Hilo, Hawaii. A new destination, Pago Pago in American Samoa, has been added to the itinerary.

MSC Cruises has confirmed that the extended trip will not incur extra costs for passengers. Onboard packages that were pre-purchased, including beverage and internet services, will automatically be adjusted for the extended duration. Refunds will be processed for shore excursions booked for the canceled ports without needing guests to take any action.

While acknowledging any potential dissatisfaction among travelers, MSC emphasized that these changes were necessary for safety and ultimately offer a more enriching experience. For those who choose to cancel due to the revisions, full refunds will be available without penalties.
