Valiant Lady and MSC World America Make Historic Inaugural Calls to Taino Bay, Dominican Republic
The Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM) has announced the inaugural arrival of two notable cruise ships to the Dominican Republic. The Valiant Lady, operated by Virgin Voyages, and the MSC World America from MSC Cruises, are set to dock at the ports of Puerto Plata. The Valiant Lady will make her debut at Taíno Bay on September 28, followed closely by the MSC World America on September 29.
According to APORDOM’s director, Jean Luis Rodríguez, the arrival of these ships reflects the increasing confidence of international cruise lines in the Dominican Republic’s maritime infrastructure and the appeal of the destination itself.
For October, APORDOM is expecting 28 ship arrivals: 14 at Taíno Bay, 12 at Amber Cove, and 2 at Cabo Rojo/Pedernales. However, schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions and operational routing.
The Valiant Lady measures 277 meters, featuring 1,404 cabins and accommodating 2,762 passengers along with a crew of 1,150. She operates at a service speed of 20 knots. The MSC World America, slightly larger at 294 meters, has the capacity for 2,092 passengers, supported by her crew and has a maximum speed of 22 knots.
