TUI’s Mein Schiff 7 Hosts Large-Scale Emergency Exercise in Warnemünde

An extensive emergency drill took place aboard TUI Cruises’ vessel, Mein Schiff 7, while it was docked at Warnemünde, Germany. This large-scale exercise was executed in collaboration with Havariekommando and simulated a significant fire scenario that resulted in multiple fictitious injuries among passengers.

Fire brigades from Rostock, Lübeck, and Hamburg joined maritime rescue units to participate in the drill. Helicopters were utilized to transport response teams directly to the ship, while support vessels such as the tug Fairplay 35, the firefighting ship Albert Wegener, and the DGzRS rescue cruiser Arkona assisted in the response efforts from the water.

Volunteers pretended to be injured passengers, providing crews the opportunity to practice search, rescue, evacuation, and medical triage operations in realistic conditions. Dr. Robby Renner, the director of Havariekommando, emphasized the importance of conducting lifelike drills to ensure operational readiness.
