Valiant Lady and MSC World America Celebrate Inaugural Calls at Taino Bay, Dominican Republic

The Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM) has announced a significant milestone in its cruise industry, with the inaugural calls of the Virgin Voyages ship, Valiant Lady, and MSC’s World America at the ports of Puerto Plata. Valiant Lady is scheduled to dock at Taíno Bay on September 28th, followed by MSC World America on September 29th.

APORDOM’s director, Jean Luis Rodríguez, highlighted that the arrival of these ships reflects increasing confidence from international cruise operators in the Dominican Republic’s maritime facilities and its attractiveness as a destination.

Looking ahead, APORDOM is preparing for a total of 28 cruise ship arrivals in October, including 14 at Taíno Bay, 12 at Amber Cove, and 2 at Cabo Rojo/Pedernales. It’s worth noting that schedules may be adjusted due to weather conditions and operational factors.

The Valiant Lady measures 277 meters and features 1,404 cabins, accommodating 2,762 passengers and a crew of 1,150, while maintaining a cruising speed of 20 knots. In contrast, the MSC World America is 294 meters long, carries 2,092 passengers, and can reach speeds of up to 22 knots.
