Global Ports Holding Launches Major Construction Campaign Across Its Global Holdings

Global Ports Holding (GPH), the largest cruise port operator globally, has embarked on an ambitious construction initiative across its network. This year saw the opening of new terminals in Alicante, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote, Prime locations in the Canary Islands. The company has initiated extensive construction efforts in multiple destinations, including The Bahamas, Antigua & Barbuda, St. Lucia, Spain, and Puerto Rico, channeling an estimated US$250 million into these developments.

The newly launched terminals in Lanzarote feature two main facilities: the Naos terminal, which spans approximately 1,106 m² and supports both transit and homeport operations, and the Los Mármoles terminal at around 556 m², which can accommodate three cruise ships simultaneously. Additionally, Fuerteventura boasts a 924 m² terminal designed with a modular layout that includes dining spaces and an outdoor terrace. Both terminals prioritize sustainability by integrating eco-efficient designs, solar panels, and recycled materials.

Beyond the Canary Islands, GPH’s expansion plans include upgrades and new projects across its ports. In Nassau, there are plans for a waterfront pool and superyacht marina, while Antigua will see the construction of a homeport terminal alongside retail and parking facilities. St. Lucia is set to benefit from enhancements to marine berths, and San Juan will witness the rehabilitation of wharves and piers.

Most of these projects are scheduled for completion between late 2025 and 2027, marking a significant investment in infrastructure that aims to enhance the cruising experience while benefiting local communities.
