Fincantieri Set to Deliver InTUItion Class Twin Vessels for Mein Schiff by 2031-32

Fincantieri and TUI AG have signed a contract to build two new cruise ships set for delivery in 2031 and 2032. Originally ordered for Marella Cruises earlier in 2025, these ships will now be incorporated into the Mein Schiff fleet of TUI Cruises.

The vessels, part of the InTUItion class, will each weigh around 160,000 gross tons and share design features with the Mein Schiff Relax and Mein Schiff Flow. They will utilize dual-fuel engines that run on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and marine gas oil (MGO), aligning with modern environmental standards.

Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri, emphasized that this contract reflects the strong partnership and trust among Fincantieri, TUI, and Royal Caribbean. This shift in ship allocation indicates TUI’s dedication to reinforcing its Mein Schiff brand in the German-speaking market.

As a result of this agreement, Marella Cruises will no longer receive a new ship on its previously outlined schedule. Its fleet will remain composed of older second-hand vessels, including the Marella Discovery, Marella Discovery 2, Marella Explorer, Marella Explorer 2, and Marella Voyager, all dating back to the 1990s.
