American Cruise Lines Announces Launch of Domestic Great Lakes Voyages in 2026

American Cruise Lines is set to launch three new domestic itineraries in the Great Lakes region starting in 2026. These voyages will take place from May through August aboard the new ship, American Patriot, which is designed to carry 125 passengers in 56 staterooms.

This initiative marks the first time in decades that a U.S.-flagged vessel will offer entirely domestic itineraries in the Great Lakes. By avoiding international borders, American Cruise Lines can access smaller towns, marinas, and city parks, providing a unique experience compared to foreign-flag ships that must dock at international ports.

Charles B. Robertson, President of American Cruise Lines, highlighted the ongoing demand for Great Lakes cruises using their small-ship format. The American Patriot is specifically designed to cater to this market.

The line will offer three distinct itineraries:

• A 9-day route from Syracuse, New York, to Cleveland, Ohio, which includes highlights such as the Thousand Islands, the St. Lawrence River, and Niagara Falls.
• Another 9-day itinerary round-trip from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, exploring Lake Michigan and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with stops at notable locations like Fayette Historic Townsite and Escanaba.
• A 14-day American Great Lakes journey spanning 800 miles between Cleveland and Milwaukee, featuring ports like Detroit, Alpena, and Mackinac Island.

Each cruise will include a pre-cruise hotel stay and complimentary domestic airfare, along with various onboard amenities such as dining options, lounges, and fitness facilities. All accommodations will feature outside staterooms with private balconies, and American Cruise Lines maintains an all-inclusive pricing model that covers dining, cocktails, Wi-Fi, excursions, and more.
