NCL-Norwegian Cancels Over 50 Cruises as Part of Fleet Realignment Strategy
NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line has announced the cancellation of over 50 sailings as part of a significant redeployment plan affecting four of its ships: Norwegian Gem, Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Getaway, and Norwegian Joy. This strategic move involves reshuffling homeports and altering itineraries, with the most notable change being an exchange of base ports between Gem and Dawn.
Starting in November 2026 and continuing through March 2027, Norwegian Gem will move to Tampa, where it will offer Caribbean and Bahamian itineraries ranging from 4 to 11 nights. In contrast, Norwegian Dawn will relocate to Jacksonville to operate shorter Bahamas sailings. As a result, all original Gem sailings scheduled between November 1, 2026, and April 4, 2027, will be cancelled, alongside all Dawn cruises set for November 1, 2026, through March 28, 2027.
The switchover also impacts Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Joy, with select short-Bahamas sailings being cancelled due to port availability issues. Getaway will not sail on November 16, 20, and 25, as well as December 14 and 18, while Joy will cancel sailings on December 18, 21, 24, and 28.
NCL explained that these updates aim to accommodate more immersive Caribbean itineraries, reflecting a new deployment strategy for the cruise line.
