HAL-Holland America Unveils Alaska-Themed Float for the 2025 Macy’s Parade

HAL-Holland America Line will debut its first float at the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City on November 27, 2025. This float will celebrate the cruise line’s 80th anniversary of voyages to Alaska. It aims to encapsulate Alaska’s rugged beauty and pioneering spirit through elaborate design and engaging motion-driven elements.

The float will dynamically represent glaciers, wildlife, and Denali National Park, showcasing Alaska’s stunning natural landscape while underscoring Holland America’s commitment to environmental sustainability. This includes initiatives like its Glacier Guarantee and the Global Fresh Fish Program, supporting local Alaskan fisheries and promoting sustainably sourced seafood on their cruises.

Beth Bodensteiner, HAL’s President, expressed that the float is not only a tribute to Alaskan beauty but also serves as an invitation for travelers to explore the region. Produced in partnership with Macy’s Parade organizers, the float will feature what is touted as the largest kinetic sculpture in the parade’s history, adding impressive motion and depth to the long-standing event.

The announcement of HAL’s participation took place aboard the Eurodam in Juneau, Alaska, with local officials praising this opportunity to share the wonders of Alaska with a national audience.

As HAL prepares to celebrate 80 years of Alaskan voyages in 2027, they are expanding their offerings for the 2026 season, with plans for six ships to operate itineraries ranging from 7 to 28 days between Seattle, Vancouver, and Whittier, including unique Cruisetours that reach Denali and the Yukon—an exclusive offering among cruise lines.
