Star Princess Sets Sail on Its Maiden Voyage: A New Era of Luxury Cruising Begins
Princess Cruises has officially launched the Star Princess, the newest addition to its fleet and the 17th vessel overall. The ship embarked on its maiden 11-day voyage from Barcelona, exploring the Western Mediterranean.
Weighing 177,800 tons, Star Princess can host up to 4,300 passengers. It boasts 30 diverse dining and bar venues, along with enhanced entertainment options and upgraded accommodations. The inaugural itinerary includes stops at Marseille, Civitavecchia (serving Rome), Naples, Sicily, Cartagena, and Gibraltar, before returning to Barcelona. After this debut, the Star Princess will sail across the Atlantic to Fort Lauderdale, where it will be officially named on November 6, 2025, before commencing its winter Caribbean sailings.
Throughout the winter and spring, Star Princess will offer a variety of Caribbean itineraries. The ship will then transit through the Panama Canal to Seattle, WA, for its summer 2026 season focused on 7-day Alaskan Inside Passage cruises.
Onboard features include "Spellbound by Magic Castle", which celebrates the golden age of magic and illusion, as well as two new theatrical productions, "Meridian" and "Illuminate", performed in the advanced Princess Arena. Additional entertainment includes deck parties, live music in the Piazza, and the new Candlelight Concert Series under the ship’s stunning glass-dome observatory.
Accommodation options feature over 1,500 balcony staterooms, with premium amenities in the Sanctuary Collection’s suites and mini-suites. Culinary experiences span 30 venues, including collaborations with renowned chefs and a curated liquor collection. Wellness and recreational facilities include a two-level Lotus Spa, fitness areas, pools, sports courts, and expansive outdoor lounges.
