Instead, Princess Cruises clinched the top spot with their latest vessel, the Sun Princess, as the best mega ship in the 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards, surpassing competitors like Norwegian Cruise Line and MSC Cruises.
This year marks Princess Cruises’ debut in this category, and they made quite an impression with the 4,300-passenger Sun Princess, their largest ship. Notably, this ship is set to have a twin, the Star Princess, launching in November.
The Sun Princess has gained acclaim for being one of the most culinary-focused vessels at sea, boasting over 30 dining and drinking options, collaborations with celebrity chefs, and entertaining food experiences, such as a unique craft cocktail program blended with magic shows. The ship offers itineraries in the Mediterranean during summer and the Caribbean in winter, operating from Barcelona and Fort Lauderdale.

Following closely behind, MSC Cruises ranked second in the mega ship category, celebrated for its multiple large ships across various classes. The third position was claimed by Norwegian Cruise Line, thanks to its appeal for combining luxury with thrilling activities and flexible dining options.
Other notable entries include Royal Caribbean, which continues to dominate with its ambitious plans to construct four additional mega vessels expected to handle over 8,000 passengers, set to launch between 2030 and 2036.
