MSC Meraviglia: Set to Embark on Southampton Sailings Starting in 2027
The MSC Meraviglia is set to commence its sailing from Southampton for the 2027 cruise season, as announced by MSC Cruises. The ship, which was built in 2017, will arrive at the port on May 18, 2027, marking the beginning of a six-month deployment.
Antonio Paradiso, the vice president of international sales at MSC Cruises, expressed enthusiasm about bringing the MSC Meraviglia to the UK, emphasizing that it will allow customers to experience new travel opportunities. The vessel will replace the MSC Virtuosa and will offer a range of cruises lasting from six to fourteen nights, covering destinations in Northern Europe and the Norwegian Fjords, as well as longer routes to the Mediterranean with stops in places like Ibiza, Tangier, and Gibraltar.
While the MSC Meraviglia takes on the Southampton itineraries, the MSC Virtuosa will operate an entire season in the Western Mediterranean, responding to strong demand for Mediterranean cruises from UK customers.
In addition to this, Paradiso noted the upcoming 2026-27 winter season, where the MSC Preziosa will succeed the MSC Poesia, providing the longest service from Southampton ever. The 2013-built MSC Preziosa will feature a series of seven-night cruises covering England, France, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands from October 2026 to April 2027.
Bookings for the new itineraries of both the MSC Meraviglia and the MSC Virtuosa will open on October 14, 2025.
