Azamara Unveils Enhanced Shore Excursion Series for an Exciting 2026 Season
Azamara has unveiled an exciting expansion to its AzAmazing Evenings series for the 2026 cruise season, introducing 35 new on-shore cultural experiences that take place after dark. This initiative complements Azamara’s long-standing “Destination Immersion” philosophy, which emphasizes extended port stays and late departures, allowing travelers to engage more authentically with the locations they visit.
The enhanced program builds on the earlier “Destination Immersion Elevated” initiative that expanded the shore excursion offerings significantly. The 2026 additions will cover a wide array of regions, including Japan, Africa, and beyond. Noteworthy experiences include a lumberjack festival in Alaska, acrobatic performances in Shanghai, and a candlelit choir concert in Gibraltar’s renowned St Michael’s Cave.
From 2026 onwards, most voyages of nine nights or longer will feature an AzAmazing Evening ashore, with selected shorter sailings hosting onboard celebrations. Azamara’s CEO, Dondra Ritzenthaler, emphasized that the extended port hours grant guests unique opportunities to connect with local cultures and traditions after sunset.
Highlights of the upcoming events feature performances such as the Orquesta de Mates y Bambúes Macolla in Guayaquil, a Kagura performance in Hiroshima depicting local myths, and a night-time exploration of Mombasa’s Fort Jesus Museum, enriched with music, projections, and fireworks. Guests visiting Gibraltar will enjoy a candlelit concert by the Gibraltar Youth Choir, while those headed to Helsinki can look forward to Finnish music at the Helsinki Music Centre.
Additionally, Azamara will launch a new series called “Stories Under the Stars” for select itineraries longer than nine nights, inviting local speakers to share regional folklore on deck, alongside themed desserts and cocktails, further enhancing the guest experience under the night sky.
