TUI River Cruises Expands Nile Fleet: Introducing the TUI Bahareya Ship
TUI River Cruises has taken a significant step in expanding its operations in Egypt with the introduction of the TUI Bahareya, its second Nile cruiser. The unveiling of the ship was celebrated in a traditional Arabic blessing ceremony held in Luxor, where guests participated in a ritual known as “Prayer to Hapi,” honoring the ancient Nile deity and hoping for the ship’s prosperous voyages. This event beautifully merged maritime traditions with Egyptian cultural heritage, highlighting the river’s historical importance.
The TUI Bahareya will offer 7-night all-inclusive round trips from Luxor, allowing travelers to visit ancient Egyptian sites while enjoying the luxury of modern river cruising. The launch attracted attention from local tourism professionals, further establishing Luxor’s reputation as a significant player in Nile cruise tourism.
Guests at the ceremony were welcomed to a transformed pool deck adorned with rose petals and LED candles, receiving commemorative alabaster plaques as a nod to Luxor’s artisanal heritage. The celebration showcased live cultural performances, including Whirling Dervishes and saxophone music, connecting traditional Egyptian artistry with a contemporary cruising experience.
Designed to accommodate 142 passengers across 72 cabins, the TUI Bahareya features elegant Arabic-inspired decor. Its cabins include options like French and Superior French Balconies for enhanced comfort. A highlight of the experience is the inclusion of licensed Egyptologists who will guide guests through excursions to historical sites such as the Valley of the Kings and Karnak temples.
This all-inclusive offering encompasses gourmet dining, beverages, and planned excursions, creating a seamless travel experience. With Luxor as the departure point, guests can explore the region’s most iconic archaeological and cultural landmarks.
The introduction of the TUI Bahareya reflects the growing trend of Nile River cruising, with visitors increasingly favoring this immersive travel method to explore Egypt’s rich history. Recognizing its potential, the Egyptian government is promoting river-based tourism in collaboration with industry leaders like TUI, aimed at ensuring sustainable growth and enhancing the country’s maritime and cultural tourism landscape.
