MSC Cruises Expands Fleet with Two Additional WORLD Class Ships from Chantiers de l’Atlantique

On November 12, 2025, MSC Cruises and Chantiers de l’Atlantique (formerly STX France) announced the order of two additional vessels in the World Class series. These ships, designated as units 7 and 8, are set for delivery in 2030 and 2031.

The announcement took place during a milestone event at the Saint-Nazaire shipyard, which included both the float-out of MSC World Asia and the keel-laying ceremony for MSC World Atlantic. The contract for the two new ships is valued at approximately EUR 3.5 billion, bringing MSC’s total investment in CdA for 2025 to around EUR 7 billion. Including the previous World Class ships, MSC’s total investment in France has reached about EUR 10.5 billion.

Pierfrancesco Vago, MSC’s Cruise Division Executive Chairman, emphasized that the World Class design exemplifies the company’s ambition to set new standards in the cruise industry. He highlighted the ships’ energy-efficient features and their readiness for future alternative fuels with their LNG-ready design.

Laurent Castaing, General Manager of CdA, noted the significance of receiving four ship orders in 2025 and expressed appreciation for MSC’s trust in the shipyard’s expertise.

Construction for ships 7 and 8 is scheduled to begin in 2029, after the delivery of earlier models: MSC World Europa (2022), MSC World America (2025), MSC World Asia (2026), and MSC World Atlantic (2027).
