Ponant and Smithsonian Journeys Unveil Exciting 2027 Expedition Itineraries
Ponant Expeditions, in collaboration with Smithsonian Journeys, has announced its collection of expert-led small-ship voyages for 2027, merging luxury travel with educational opportunities. The new itineraries will include exciting destinations such as Lisbon, Cabo San Lucas, and Osaka.
The program is set to kick off with a 10-night voyage in the Sea of Cortez, leaving roundtrip from Cabo San Lucas on February 10, 2027. This expedition will focus on whale migration and will feature insights from marine and conservation biologists. Another highlight is a sailing from Lisbon on July 30, 2027, aboard Le Boréal, offering guests a front-row seat to a total solar eclipse at sea, supplemented by geological expert commentary throughout the trip.
Additional itineraries include an 8-night journey from Busan to Osaka, delving into the rich cultural heritage of Japan and South Korea, and a Mediterranean cruise from Nice to Valletta, making stops in Sicily and Corsica. There will also be a 7-night cruise on the Baltic Sea from Helsinki to Copenhagen, exploring multiple UNESCO World Heritage sites. Other offerings consist of a Great Lakes itinerary spanning from Toronto to Milwaukee, a traditional Antarctic expedition departing from Ushuaia, and a voyage from Barcelona to Lisbon that focuses on the historic landmarks of southern Spain and Portugal.
A key feature of these voyages is the involvement of Smithsonian experts, including geologists, historians, and biologists, who will lead lectures and shore excursions, emphasizing a sustainable and experiential tourism model that enhances the understanding of each destination’s cultural and natural heritage.
