Costa Smeralda Enters Drydock in Marseille for Scheduled Maintenance

The Costa Smeralda cruise ship, operated by Costa Cruises, has recently docked at Chantiers Naval de Marseille, France, for a scheduled dry dock. Built in 2019, the vessel has been in service for over six years and is set to undergo its second major maintenance overhaul since it was delivered.

During this dry dock period, various inspections will be conducted by the classification society, focusing on the ship’s essential safety and technical systems to ensure it meets compliance and is seaworthy.

The scheduled maintenance includes not only these regulatory inspections but also upgrades and refurbishments. Tasks will involve hull cleaning and repainting, renewal of flooring and furniture, and other enhancements that cannot be achieved while the ship is actively operating.

Costa plans to complete all maintenance work by December 11, 2025, allowing the Costa Smeralda to resume its cruising schedule from Savona, Italy, on December 12. After the dry dock, the ship will continue its winter itineraries, offering week-long cruises through the Western Mediterranean.
