Norwegian Luna Sets Sail: NCL’s Ship Begins Adriatic Sea Trials
NCL’s latest ship, the Norwegian Luna, has commenced its sea trials in the Adriatic Sea, having recently departed from the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, near Venice. These trials are critical for testing all major systems aboard, including navigation, engineering, and safety mechanisms, under conditions that go beyond typical service levels.
On board are representatives from Fincantieri, Norwegian Cruise Line, and the relevant classification society, all observing the ship’s performance to identify any necessary adjustments before its official handover. The Norwegian Luna may head to Palermo, Sicily, for further refinements during a final dry dock phase, focusing on critical systems like propulsion pods and stabilizers.
Scheduled for delivery in early 2026, the Norwegian Luna will officially launch for service in March 2026, with its first revenue sailings set to begin from Miami on April 4th, 2026. These trials are an essential step in ensuring the vessel meets safety and commercial standards before welcoming passengers.
