Construction Begins on Philadelphia’s New Cruise Terminal: What to Expect
PhilaPort has initiated the construction of a new cruise terminal on a 16-acre site adjacent to Philadelphia International Airport, aiming for completion in April 2026. This facility is set to become a significant gateway for cruise travel in the region.
In collaboration with Energy Transfer and Norwegian Cruise Line, the project underscores a shared belief in Philadelphia’s potential as a cruise hub. Norwegian Cruise Line intends to offer seasonal summer sailings to destinations including Bermuda and various spots in Canada and New England.
The upcoming terminal is projected to create approximately 2,185 direct and indirect jobs while contributing around $300 million to Pennsylvania’s economy. From April 2026 to March 2033, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings will be the exclusive operator out of Philadelphia’s homeport, with plans for 41 sailings each year.
The design of the new terminal aims to enhance access to cruise experiences, capitalizing on Philadelphia’s rich history and cultural importance. This initiative represents a strategic investment in both regional tourism and cruise infrastructure, allowing passengers the convenience of embarking from the city while gaining connectivity to international destinations.
