Star Seeker: A New Era Begins with Windstar’s Latest Delivery
Windstar Cruises has officially taken delivery of its newest vessel, the Star Seeker, during a handover ceremony at WestSEA Shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, on December 15. This yacht, which accommodates 224 guests, represents the first addition to Windstar’s Star Class and marks a significant step in the company’s fleet expansion efforts.
The handover ceremony was attended by key representatives from Windstar, including President Chris Prelog, Chief Operating Officer Stijn Creupelandt, Chief Commercial Officer Janet Bava, and Vice President of Expansion Projects John Gunner. They were joined by Captain Tom Schofield and his crew, who played crucial roles in preparing the yacht for this milestone event, alongside senior officials from the Portuguese shipyard involved in the project.
President Prelog expressed the significance of the occasion, noting that taking delivery of a new ship is a remarkable moment in any shipbuilding journey. He emphasized the exceptional craftsmanship displayed during the construction and thanked the WestSEA team and Mystic Cruises for their partnership throughout the process.
Mario Ferreira, CEO of Mystic, also highlighted the pride felt by the WestSEA team in bringing the Star Seeker from concept to completion, meeting Windstar’s challenge of creating a vessel that fosters connection to unique destinations while ensuring comfort and responsible operation.
