Port of Brisbane Celebrates Milestone: 500 Cruise Ship Calls Since Inception
At the Port of Brisbane, a significant milestone was achieved with the arrival of the 500th cruise ship at the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal since it opened in 2022. This noteworthy event took place on December 14, when the Carnival Luminosa docked at the terminal, highlighting Brisbane’s emerging status as a major cruise hub in Australian waters.
The terminal began operations on June 2, 2022, with its first ship being the P&O Explorer. Over the past three and a half years, it has welcomed vessels from top cruise lines, facilitating travel for passengers to various destinations both within Australia and internationally, thereby contributing to the growing cruise sector in Queensland.
Every cruise ship’s arrival involves meticulous coordination, with a dedicated team of about 130 professionals from the Port of Brisbane and partner organizations managing the arrival and departure of vessels, passenger processing, and overall port operations. Port authorities have recognized the collaborative effort that led to this milestone, expressing gratitude for the ongoing commitment from staff, cruise line partners, terminal operators, and the local community since the terminal’s inception.
