Norwegian Viva Sets Sail for Inaugural Winter Season from Galveston, TX
Norwegian Cruise Line’s ship, Norwegian Viva, has officially commenced its inaugural winter season from Port Galveston, Texas. The ship arrived on December 13, 2025, marking the beginning of a lineup of sailings scheduled through April 2026. During this winter Caribbean season, Norwegian Viva will offer a mix of both 7-day and 14-day round-trip itineraries.
Operating from the new Cruise Terminal 16 in Galveston, Norwegian Viva’s week-long voyages will include popular ports such as Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico, Roatán in Honduras, and Harvest Caye, a private resort in Belize. The extended 14-day cruises planned for early January 2026 will explore a wider range of destinations, including St. Thomas (U.S. Virgin Islands), Antigua, St. Maarten, San Juan (Puerto Rico), Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic), George Town (Grand Cayman), and Great Stirrup Cay, also the cruise line’s private island in the Bahamas.
The deployment of Norwegian Viva from Galveston enhances the port’s significance in the U.S. cruise market by providing heightened access to Caribbean destinations without the need for long travel times for guests from Texas and the broader central United States. The ship is expected to return to Galveston for a second winter season in October 2026, continuing its service from this new homeport.
