Celebrating 15 Years of Allure of the Seas: Royal Caribbean’s Iconic Ship
The Allure of the Seas has recently celebrated its 15th anniversary of service with Royal Caribbean International, having been delivered on October 28, 2010. Built at the STX Europe Shipyard in Turku, Finland, the ship is a sister to the 2009-built Oasis of the Seas and was recognized as the largest cruise ship in the world at its debut.
The Allure started its inaugural journey with seven-night cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas, departing from Royal Caribbean’s new cruise terminal in Fort Lauderdale. The ship’s debut season included visits to Labadee, the cruise line’s private island in Haiti.
Over the years, Allure extended its itineraries, adding new homeports such as Galveston, Port Canaveral, and Miami, and even operating summer cruises in the Western Mediterranean. However, plans for another summer season in 2020 were canceled due to the pandemic. The vessel made a triumphant return to Europe in 2025 after undergoing a major refurbishment, which enhanced its public spaces and introduced a host of new amenities.
This $100 million upgrade, completed in April, included the addition of The Perfect Storm waterslides and new dining options. Other notable enhancements featured new suites, an upgraded pool deck, and the Ultimate Abyss dry slide, a signature attraction of Royal Caribbean.
In 2026, Allure of the Seas is scheduled to continue its journey from three different homeports: Fort Lauderdale, Galveston, and Miami. The ship will begin the year with weeklong cruises from Port Everglades before transitioning to Texas for its spring season in mid-March and returning to Florida by late April for the remainder of the year.
