MSC World America Named Best Overall Cruise Ship of 2025
MSC Cruises’ MSC World America has been recognized as the Best Overall Cruise Ship of 2025 in the Cruise Hive Awards. Launched on April 12, 2025, this innovative vessel stood out in a competitive field, receiving 4.8% of the votes—an impressive feat given that voters had the option to choose from over 100 ships.
Following MSC World America, Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas and Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Aqua secured second and third places, respectively. The voting period ran from October 14 to December 19, 2025, allowing enthusiasts to voice their preferences for their favorite ships.
This award marks a significant achievement for MSC Cruises, as this is the first win in this category for the brand. Previous years saw Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras dominate in 2021 and 2022, Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas winning in 2023, and Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Beyond taking the title in 2024.
MSC World America is currently the largest ship in MSC’s fleet, weighing in at 216,638 gross tons. It features 16 passenger decks and offers 19 different stateroom categories across approximately 2,626 cabins. The ship is organized into seven distinct districts, each providing unique atmospheres and activities. Notably, it includes the first-ever Eataly at Sea, located on Deck 8, which is popular for its handmade pastas.
In addition to its dining innovations, MSC World America has introduced new thrill rides, including the "Cliffhanger," a swing ride that takes passengers up to 160 feet above the ocean, and the “Jaw Drop,” a dry slide that descends 11 decks from the harbor to the World Promenade.
The results of the awards indicate a growing trend among cruisers favoring newer ships that offer cutting-edge amenities and entertainment. The second and third place contenders, Star of the Seas and Norwegian Aqua, both made their debut in 2025, reflecting the industry’s commitment to innovation.
