Princess Cruises Celebrates 2026 Alaska Season with Spectacular Rose Parade Appearance

Princess Cruises kicked off the 2026 year by showcasing their “Together in the Magic of Alaska” float at the 137th Rose Parade. The float highlighted the upcoming inaugural Alaska season of the Star Princess, illustrating the vessel cruising through an Alaskan landscape.

As the float moved along the 5.5-mile route on Colorado Boulevard, it depicted the Star Princess amidst iconic coastal scenery associated with Alaska. The design featured a variety of natural materials and flowers reflecting glacial tones and the northern ocean. Wildlife representations such as whales, sea otters, eagles, bears, and moose were also included, emphasizing Alaska’s rich biodiversity. The float was constructed by Artistic Entertainment Services, measuring about 55 feet in length and 21 feet in height, and utilized over 300,000 flowers and natural materials to create a vibrant and detailed representation of both the ship and its environment.

Princess Cruises’ marketing team chose the Rose Parade to celebrate the debut of the Star Princess and recognize the hard work of their shoreside staff, ship crew, and Alaskan communities that support cruise operations. The parade’s theme focused on teamwork, further reinforced by company representatives who rode on the float along with accompanying musical performances that celebrated the brand’s long-standing connection to cruising.

The Star Princess is the cruise line’s second Sphere Class ship, weighing approximately 177,800 gross tons and designed to accommodate 4,300 passengers. It is set to operate weekly 7-night Inside Passage Alaska cruises departing from Seattle from early May through mid-September 2026.

For the coming Alaska season, Princess Cruises is planning its largest deployment to date in the region, with eight ships offering 180 sailings to 19 destinations. This program includes standalone cruises and combined land-and-sea itineraries, continuing its long presence in the market while introducing the Star Princess as a new flagship in the area.
