Windstar Cruises Welcomes New Star Seeker Ship in a Christening Ceremony in Miami
Windstar Cruises celebrated the christening of its new ship, the Star Seeker, in Miami on January 15, 2026. Following the special ceremony, the ship embarked on an eight-night journey from Miami to San Juan, with stops in the Dominican Republic and the British Virgin Islands.
During the event, Windstar President Christopher Prelog emphasized the importance of the onboard experience, highlighting the warm interactions between the crew and guests. He remarked, "It’s the way you feel when you are onboard a Windstar ship: the smiles from the crew, the genuine conversation, the kindness and caring that flows through the ship every day." Prelog noted that this culture has been a part of Windstar since its inception with two small sailing ships.
A meaningful moment in the ceremony included Libby Anschutz, the daughter of Windstar’s owner Phil Anschutz, fulfilling her duties as the ship’s godmother. She delivered a heartfelt message, continuing a family tradition, as her mother had previously christened the Star Pride. Libby’s sister, Sarah, is set to christen the upcoming Star Explorer in June 2027 in London.
In its inaugural year, the Star Seeker will navigate the Caribbean and Alaska, later venturing to Japan and Southeast Asia, with a focus on immersive experiences in Thailand and Vietnam.
As for future plans, the Star Seeker will return to Alaska in 2027 with notable itineraries like "Seven-Day Scenic Alaska" and "10-Day Alaskan Splendor," along with a "10-Day Grand Japan" option. Meanwhile, the Star Explorer, debuting in December 2026, will explore destinations including London, Bordeaux, Rouen, and Norway’s fjords, featuring port-intensive itineraries with extended stays in cities like Stockholm, Tallinn, and San Sebastián, as well as Windstar’s first visit to Puerto Banús, the gateway to Marbella.
