Water Line Failure Causes Damage to Cabins on MSC Seaview During South America Cruise

MSC Cruises has reported that a technical issue with a water line caused localized flooding on the MSC Seaview during a cruise in South America. The incident occurred on January 12, 2026, while the ship was on a seven-night cruise that had departed from Santos, near São Paulo, on January 10.

Footage shared by Brazilian media revealed water pooling in passenger corridors and soaked carpeting outside staterooms, with guests seen walking barefoot through the affected areas. MSC confirmed that the flooding was due to a malfunction in a water line, which allowed water to enter several guest cabins and a public corridor.

The cruise line acted quickly to isolate and resolve the issue, stating that the technical team promptly repaired the fault. Afterward, all impacted cabins were thoroughly cleaned. Although MSC did not specify the number of staterooms affected, they assured that there was no safety risk for passengers. They kept guests informed and offered assistance as needed, including compensation measures such as cabin upgrades, full refunds in certain circumstances, and onboard credits of up to USD 150.

The MSC Seaview continued its voyage after addressing the issue. For additional details on incidents involving MSC Seaview, you can check the ship’s CruiseMinus page.
