Urgent Incident: Passenger Overboard from Windstar’s Star Breeze in the Marquesas
A distressing incident occurred aboard the Windstar Cruises ship Star Breeze while it was navigating the waters near the Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia as part of a 14-day Tahiti itinerary. The crew initiated a Code Oscar alert after discovering that a passenger was missing.
Reports indicate that the missing passenger is a 66-year-old man from the United States. Preliminary accounts suggest that he went overboard around 2:00 a.m. and that the incident may have followed a domestic dispute, although details surrounding the event are still under investigation and have yet to be verified by officials.
In response to the emergency alert, maritime authorities were contacted, and a search operation began. The French Navy patrol vessel Gardian was sent to the scene and arrived around 8:00 a.m. to assist in the search.
After the incident, the Star Breeze continued to its next port of call, Hiva Oa, where it arrived later that day. Upon docking, local police boarded the vessel to conduct interviews as part of their ongoing investigation into the situation.
